Changing ownership of an email alias, listserv, or ULID account

Only the owner of an an email alias, listserv, or ULID account may submit a request to change its ownership.

All email aliases, listservs, and ULID accounts have a designated "owner" (sometimes also called a "sponsor"). When it is necessary to change the owner of an alias, listserv, or ULID account, a request should be sent to the CISS system administrators, as indicated below.

For example, if a staff member is an email alias owner and plans to retire, he or she should request a change of ownership for the email alias to ensure a smooth transition.

Only the owner/sponsor of an an email alias, listserv, or ULID account may submit a request to change its ownership.

To request a change in ownership, do the following:
  • Send an email to help@ilstu.edu FROM your ilstu.edu address
  • Include the name of the email alias, listserv, or ULID account
  • Include the name and ULID of the current owner
  • Include the name and ULID of the new owner to be assigned
The system administrators will make the necessary changes and will then notify both the new and old owners that the change has been completed.
