iSpot Ethernet jacks provide network and Internet access

Ethernet jacks are available in designated iSpot locations on campus and can be used by students, faculty, staff, and retirees of Illinois State University.

iSpot Ethernet Jacks

Ethernet jacks can be found in public spaces on campus designated with the iSpot logo. Using these public ports, you may access the campus network and the Internet. Ethernet jacks are available in all of the campus dining centers, the Bone Student Center, and Milner Library.

Requirements

To use iSpot Ethernet jacks, you must have a valid ULID and password. And you must provide your own Ethernet cable.

You may purchase an Ethernet cable from the TechZone and most major computer/electronics stores. If you are a student who subscribes to ResNet, you can use the same Ethernet cable you use in your residence hall room.

Milner Library and Bone Student Center

The public Ethernet ports in Milner Library and the Bone Student Center use a different form of authentication than the rest of the public Ethernet ports on campus. For more information, refer to:

Other Locations on Campus

The first time you use an iSpot Ethernet jack, do the following:

  1. Connect your computer to the Ethernet jack using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Start your computer.
  3. Open a web browser. You will be presented with a network registration web page.
  4. Fill out the form to register your computer. Network registration requires a valid ULID and password.

Network registration for iSpot Ethernet jacks is required once each semester.
