Subscribing and unsubscribing to a listserv

Before you can participate in a listserv, you must subscribe to it. When you no longer want to receive listserv emails, you must unsubscribe from it.

How to Subscribe to a Listserv

  1. Go to http://www.listserv.ilstu.edu/.
  2. Click Listserv Lists.  
  3. Scroll through the list and locate the listserv you wish to subscribe to.
  4. To subscribe yourself to the listserv, click the associated tan-colored button with people on it.
  5. You will be brought to a "Join or leave" page for the listserv. Enter your email address and name, and click Join the list.

You may receive an email message asking you to confirm your subscription to the listserv. If you receive a confirmation email, read it carefully and follow its instructions. These confirmation instructions (if any) vary from listserv to listserv.

Not all listservs are public. If your subscription request is denied, you will receive an email stating the cause for denial.   

How to Unsubscribe from a Listserv

  1. Go to http://www.listserv.ilstu.edu/.
  2. Click Listserv Lists.
  3. Scroll through the list and locate the listserv you wish to unsubscribe from.
  4. To unsubscribe yourself from the listserv, click the associated tan-colored button with people on it. You will be brought to a "Join or leave" page for the listserv. Enter your e-mail address and name and click Leave the list.

You may receive an email message confirming your removal from the listserv. If you receive a confirmation email, read it carefully and follow its instructions. These confirmation instructions (if any) will vary from listserv to listserv.
