How to scan your computer with Ad-Aware 2007

If you are experiencing problems with pop-ups, ad software, spyware, or malware (or if your computer is acting strangely), you should scan it with Ad-Aware.

Follow these steps to scan your computer with Ad-Aware 2007.

  1. Open Ad-Aware 2007.
  2. Click Update under Definitions Status. (Figure 1)
  3. Click Yes if Ad-Aware finds a new definitions files. When installation is finished, you will be taken back to the main Ad-Aware window.
  4. Click Scan Now in the lower-right corner of the window.
  5. Select Full Scan and click Scan. (Figure 2)
  6. Ad-Aware will begin scanning your computer. This may take several minutes to several hours depending on your computer.
  7. When Ad-Aware is finished scanning it will show a list of all the objects it found with check boxes.
  8. Right-click anywhere inside the window with the check boxes and click Select All Objects and then click Remove. (Figure 3)
  9. Click the Privacy Objects tab and repeat the instructions from step 8.

Once Ad-Aware has finished removing the objects, you can close it. It is recommended that you restart your computer after scanning.
