Configuring Outlook 2003 for Exchange
These instructions explain how to configure Outlook 2003 for Exchange, whether for calendar only or both calendar and email.
To set up Outlook 2003 for Exchange, do the following:
- If you are off campus, connect with VPN. Refer to 1091: Connecting with Cisco VPN Client for Windows or 1322: How to use Network Connect in WebVPN.
- Click Start > Control Panel.
- If your Control Panel says Pick a category, click Switch to Classic View on the left.
- Double-click the Mail icon. If you do not have a Mail icon, open Outlook 2003 instead.
- Do one of the following:
- Click Add... and in the Profile Name box, type
ISU Exchange; click OK. - Click E-mail Accounts....
- Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.
- Select Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next.
- Type
ad.ilstu.edu in the box labeled Microsoft Exchange Server:. - Type your ULID in the box labeled User Name.
- Click Check Name. Both the Microsoft Exchange Server address and the user name will change.
- Click Next.
- You may get the message, "Mail from this Microsoft Exchange Server account will be delivered to the existing Personal Folders on your local computer. If you wish to keep your mail on your server, you must change the default delivery location using the E-mail Accounts command from the Tools menu. Do you wish to continue?" Click Yes.
- You may be prompted to log in. If so, type
adilstu\yourULID in the User Name box. Type your password in the Password box. - Click Finish.
- Click E-Mail Accounts.... Or, if you have Outlook 2003 open already, click Tools > E-mail Accounts.
- Select View or change existing e-mail accounts and click Next.
- Important: Make sure Microsoft Exchange Server is set as default. Select Microsoft Exchange Server and click Set as Default.
- Important: Locate the box labeled, Deliver new e-mail to the following location:. Click the drop-down menu and select Mailbox - Your Name (not Personal Folders). If Personal Folders is selected, you will have problems with Exchange email and Exchange calendar.
- Click Finish.
- You may get the message, "You have changed the default delivery location for your e-mail. This will change the location for your Inbox, Calendar, and other folders. These changes will take effect the next time you start Outlook." Click OK.
- Click Finish.
- Click Close.
You can now use Outlook 2003 with Exchange.
