Opening your Exchange calendar at home or on the road

You can open your Exchange calendar at home or any time you are away from the office.

Your Exchange calendar is stored on the Exchange server, which means you can access it when you are out of the office. You can access your calendar at home or when you are on the road.

Option 1: Outlook Web Access (OWA)

OWA is great because all you need is an Internet connection and a web browser.

Go to http://owa.ilstu.edu and log in to view your Exchange calendar. This is an ideal solution when you are at home, at a conference, on vacation, or any time you are using a computer that's not yours.

Option 2: Outlook or Entourage

Under the Microsoft Campus Agreement, faculty and staff may install Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, Entourage 2004, or Entourage 2008 at home. Use Outlook or Entourage to access your Exchange calendar.
  • Outlook requires you to first establish a VPN connection, as described below.
  • Depending on how Entourage is configured, it may require VPN. Try using Entourage without VPN first. If you are unable to log in, close Entourage and connect with VPN as described below. Then launch Entourage and log in.
VPN Connection Required: To use Outlook or Entourage (in some cases) from off campus, you need to first establish a VPN connection using either the Cisco VPN Client or Network Connect in WebVPN. Once you have established a VPN connection, you can log in to Outlook or Entourage and access your Exchange calendar.
