Overview of Datastore

Your personal share on Datastore is used to store personal files and to host a personal web page.

All members of Illinois State University have access to the Datastore server.

You have 1GB of disk space on Datastore, which you can use to store files and to host a personal website. English classes also make use of Datastore for writing assignments. You can access Datastore from any computer that has an Internet connection.

Personal Share on Datastore

Your personal share on Datastore can be used to store files and host a personal website.

Store files

Because it can be accessed from anywhere on campus or off campus, Datastore is perfect for storing files. 

  • You get 1GB on disk space on your personal share.
  • Store homework assignments, Word documents, PDFs, pictures, etc.
  • Backup important files to Datastore.
  • Other people cannot access your files, except for those in your "web" folder.

Host a personal website

Use your personal share to host a website.

  • Your website's address is http://my.ilstu.edu/~YourULID.
  • Your personal share contains a special "web" folder used to host a personal website.
  • Files in your "web" folder are publicly accessible through your website.
  • Server-side scripting (PHP, ASP, etc.) is unavailable to your website.
