Connecting to "isunet" wireless on Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4

Use Mac OS X 10.3 or Mac OS X 10.4 to access "isunet," a secure wireless network that is accessible throughout campus.

Before You Begin

On Mac OS X 10.4, no special configuration is necessary to access "isunet." The AirPort software on your Mac will automatically detect the appropriate settings (WPA Enterprise with 802.1X authentication) and prompt you to log in when you connect to "isunet."

On Mac OS X 10.3, you may need to install the AirPort 4.2 update to access "isunet." We recommend trying to connect to "isunet" with the instructions below. Only install the AirPort 4.2 update if you have problems connecting.

These instructions require you to be within range of "isunet." See 1092: Wireless access point locations on campus.

Connect to "isunet" on Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4

To connect to "isunet" with Mac OS X 10.3 or Mac OS X 10.4, do the following:

  1. Click on the wireless symbol on the menu bar. This is the AirPort menu.
  2. If it's not already on, click Turn AirPort On.
  3. Select isunet from the list of available wireless networks in the AirPort menu.
  4. Enter your ULID and password.
  5. Click OK.
  6. A Verify Certificate window will appear. Click OK or Continue to accept the certificate.

You are now connected to "isunet."

Troubleshooting

There are a few known issues regarding "isunet" and Mac OS X.

  • You may occasionally get the error, There was an error joining the AirPort network "isunet," when you connect. If you get this error, click Try again.

  • On Mac OS X 10,3, if you have problems connecting, install the AirPort 4.2 and then try connecting again. See 1369: Installing AirPort 4.2 on Mac OS X 10.3.

  • Each time you connect to "isunet," the Verify Certificate window might appear, depending on your version of Mac OS X and the updates you have installed.

  • For best results, please make sure Mac OS X is updated to the latest version. For more information, refer to 1262: How to update Mac OS X and Apple applications.
