Students are required to agree to the ResNet Terms of Use when they sign up for ResNet service at Illinois State University.
ResNet service is available to students living in the campus residence halls at Illinois State University. During ResNet registration, students are required to agree to the ResNet Terms of Use. A copy of the ResNet Terms of use is displayed below.
ResNet Terms of Use
You are required to abide by the "ResNet Terms of Use" shown below. Violating the "ResNet Terms of Use" can result in a termination of your network connectivity to the campus network and the Internet. Depending on the nature of the violation, you may also be referred to the Office of Community Rights and Responsibilities for disciplinary action.
- I will abide by Illinois State University's Appropriate Use Policy.
- I will not unlawfully download or share copyrighted material (music, movies, documents, etc.).
- I understand that peer-to-peer traffic is blocked through ResNet.
- I will not engage in activities which disrupt the campus network.
- I understand that I am responsible for all activities that occur through the ResNet Ethernet jack I am registering.
- I understand that the network may be temporarily unavailable; network access may be limited during maintenance periods; and bandwidth restrictions may apply to certain applications or services.
- I understand that the network will be routinely monitored for security threats and/or management activity, including, but not limited to, spyware, viruses, denial of service attacks, copyrighted material, and unprotected systems.
- I assert that I have followed the instructions for ResNet registration. I have installed all required critical security updates and all required software. I have completed all steps defined by the ResNet Registration Utility.
- I will not attempt to alter, change, or modify any software installed during the ResNet registration process.
- I understand that to use ResNet, my computer must be configured to use DHCP to obtain a dynamic IP address.
- I understand that I may only connect one computer at a time to a ResNet Ethernet jack and that I may not connect other communication devices, such as an Ethernet hub, router, switch, printer server, or wireless access point.
- I understand that by completing ResNet registration, I authorize the University to bill to my account for ResNet service.
