Configuring Windows Mobile 6 with MailVPN settings
Configure your Windows Mobile 6 device so you can check and send email with your university email account.
To set up Windows Mobile 6 with WebVPN mail settings, do the following:
- Click Start> Inbox.
- Select New E-mail Account.
- Enter your email address in the E-mail address: box.
- Uncheck the box labeled Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet.
- Click Next.
- In the Your name: box, enter your name as you want it to appear on email messages you send.
- In the Account display name: box, enter
ISU Email. - Click Next.
- In the Incoming mail server: box, enter
mailvpn.ilstu.edu. - Select IMAP4 from the drop-down menu labeled Account type.
- Click Next.
- Enter your ULID in the User name: box.
- Enter your password in the Password: box.
- If you receive a warning that your wireless service provide has already customized the outgoing email server settings, click OK.
- In the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: box, enter
mailvpn.ilstu.edu.
- If there is already an address in this box, delete it first.
- Put a check in the box labeled, Outgoing server requires authentication.
- Put a check in the box labeled, Use the same user name and password for sending e-mail.
- Click Next.
- By default, Windows Mobile 6 will automatically send and receive email every 2 hours. You can change the frequency by selecting a different option from the drop-down menu labeled, Automatic Send/Receive.
- Click Finish.
- Windows Mobile 6 will now check email and download messages to your Inbox.
You can now check and send email using Windows Mobile 6. Because this configuration uses WebVPN mail settings, you can access your email from off campus without an independent VPN connection.
