Understanding three views of the campus map: Satellite, Hybrid, and Campus

The campus map website has three views, each of which shows a different version of the map.

Three Views: Satellite, Hybrid, Campus

The campus map website offers three views: Satellite, Hybrid, and Campus.

By default, the campus map website displays the Campus view. You can change views by using the control panel in the upper-right corner of the map. Click on Satellite to switch to the Satellite view, for example.

Satellite

Select the Satellite view to see a satellite photograph of the area.

  • You can select buildings and other locations using this view. Click a location (either using the location panel check boxes on the left or by clicking on the map itself) to bring up an information bubble about that location.
  • Portions of the Satellite view may be out of date.
  • The Satellite view is provided by Google. and cannot be altered or updated by the University.

Hybrid

The Hybrid view adds map streets to the Satellite view.

  • You can select buildings and other locations using this view. Click a location (either using the location panel check boxes on the left or by clicking on the map itself) to bring up an information bubble about that location.
  • The Hybrid view is provided by Google and cannot be altered or updated by the University.

Campus

The Campus view contains Illinois State buildings and other points of interest found on campus.

  • The Campus view is the default view you see when you go to the campus map website.
  • Zoom in to see the names of campus locations.
  • The closest zoom level displays additional details, such as the location of entrances and elevators.
  • You can select buildings and other locations using this view. Click a location (either using the location panel check boxes on the left or by clicking on the map itself) to bring up an information bubble about that location.
