Emergency alerts are sent to members of Illinois State when a crisis situation occurs on campus.
The ISU Emergency Alert system will notify you immediately after an emergency which threatens life or safety is identified on campus. This includes extreme weather warnings, such as flash floods, severe thunderstorms, winter storms, tornadoes, etc. Details about the ISU Emergency Alert system can be found at http://www.ilstu.edu/home/security/.
Sign up for the ISU Emergency Alert system through iCampus at http://www.icampus.ilstu.edu/. After you log in, locate the ISU Emergency Alert channel in the upper-right corner of your iCampus layout. Fill out the form to sign up.
We recommend all members of Illinois State sign up to receive emergency alerts. As someone with an active ULID account, ISU Emergency Alert emails will be sent to yourULID@ilstu.edu email address, even if you do not sign up.
Signing up allows you to get emergency alerts sent to your mobile phone (both voice and text are available). You can also specify an additional phone number on which you'd like to receive voice alerts, and you can specify an alternate email address to which you'd like alerts sent.
A valid ULID and password are required to sign up for the ISU Emergency Alert system. Parents of students cannot sign up for emergency alerts unless they themselves are affiliated with Illinois State University as a current student, faculty/staff, or retiree.
No. Your personal information will be used only to send alerts about emergencies that threaten the life or safety of those on campus. This includes alerts about severe weather.
For help determining the authenticity of an ISU Emergency Alert notification you've received, please refer to 1527: How do I know this ISU Emergency Alert is legit?.
ISU Emergency Alert notifications are quick, short messages that notify Illinois State members of crisis situations. The messages are primarily formatted to accommodate SMS text message, but are also automatically translated to e-mail and voice messages in order to provide maximum coverage. SMS text formatting differs by device and carrier, and as a result, ISU Emergency Alert notifications are formatted so as to provide readability of the core message, regardless of device.
