Configuring Palm Pre with MailVPN settings

Configure Palm Pre so you can check and send email with your university email account.

To set up your Palm Pre to use MailVPN settings, do the following:

  1. Press the email icon on the bottom of the screen. If it is not there, you can find the email icon in the launcher on the bottom right of the screen.
  2. Press Email on the top left and select Preferences and accounts.
  3. A new screen will open. Select Add an Account.
  4. Press the Email button on the top left again and select Manual Setup.
  5. Select IMAP for the mail type.
  6. Enter your email address in the Email Address field. Your email address is yourULID@ilstu.edu.
  7. Enter your ULID in the Username field.
  8. Enter your password in the Password field.
  9. Enter ISU Email in the Description field.
  10. Under Incoming Mail Server, do the following:
    • Enter mailvpn.ilstu.edu in the Host Name field.
    • Enter your ULID and password.
    • Make sure the Port # is 993.
    • Change Encryption to SSL.
  11. Under Outgoing Mail Server, do the following:
    • Enter mailvpn.ilstu.edu in the Host Name field.
    • Under Use Authentication, select On.
    • Enter your ULID and password.
    • Make sure the Port # is 465.
    • Change Encryption to SSL.
  12. Press Sign In.

You can now check and send email using Palm Pre. Because it is configured with WebVPN mail settings, you can access your email from off campus without an independent VPN connection.
