Configuring MyTouch with MailVPN settings

Configure MyTouch with MailVPN settings so you can check and send email.

Before You Begin

The Email application included in Android on MyTouch does not function properly with the MailVPN security certificates. As a result, we recommend using the K-9 application, which is a free alternative to Email.

To complete these instructions, you must download the K-9 application to MyTouch. These instructions do not cover how to download applications to Android on MyTouch. Please consult with your cellular phone provider for assistance.

Configure MailVPN settings in K-9 on MyTouch

To configure MailVPN settings in K-9 on MyTouch, do the following:

  1. Download and install the K-9 application to Android on MyTouch. Consult with your cellular phone provider for more information.
  2. Press the K-9 application icon to launch it.
  3. The first time you launch K-9, you are asked to create a new email account. Press Next.
    • If you are not prompted to create a new email account, press Menu on the Accounts screen and choose Add Account.
  4. Enter your email address and password.
    • Your email address is yourULID@ilstu.edu.
  5. Press Manual setup.
  6. Select IMAP account.
  7. Enter mailvpn.ilstu.edu under IMAP server.
  8. Select SSL (Always) under Security type.
  9. Press Next.
  10. Enter webvpn.ilstu.edu under SMTP server.
  11. Select SSL (Always) under Security type.
  12. Press Next.
  13. The application will then verify your account settings.

K-9 on MyTouch is now configured to check and send email.
