Which wireless headsets work with Cisco VOIP phones on campus?

Two wireless headset models have been tested and work with the Cisco voice-over-IP (VOIP) phones on campus.

The University has tested two wireless headset models which have been found to work with the Cisco voice-over-IP (VOIP) phones on campus.

Jabra GN9350e

This wireless headset allows you to answer calls by pressing a button on the headset itself, which is useful if you happen to be away from your desk (but nearby) when a call is placed to your phone. It also allows you to mute the call by pressing a button on the headset. The base station for this headset model also allows you to control other volume and sound settings.

Required Accessory: The HHC Adapter is required for use with the Cisco VOIP phones on campus.

Recommended Configuration: Jabra GN9350e wireless headsets will work without configuring them first. However, the button on the headset itself cannot be used to receive calls unless you configure your base station to use DHSG.

Plantronics CS351N

This wireless headset allows you to handle calls wirelessly, but you must press the Headset button on your Cisco phone to answer a call. You can mute the conversation by pressing a button on the headset. The headset also has buttons which allow you to control the earpiece volume. The base station for this headset model allows you to control microphone volume for the headset.

Configuration Required: Plantronics CS351N wireless headsets will not work without configuring them first. You must turn the base station selector to 2.

Other Wireless Headsets

Many manufacturers produce headsets which will work with the Cisco and Ericsson phones on campus. Telecommunications & Networking recommends checking with the manufacturer to confirm compatibility before purchasing.

Recommended Wired Headset

If you are interested in purchasing a wired headset for your Cisco VOIP phone, Telecommunications & Networking recommends the Jabra GN2120 Noise Canceling model with the GN1200 adapter cord.
